Superman reboot "Man of Steel" dropped to third, bringing in $41.3 million after opening in the top slot last weekend with earnings of $116.6-million.
Coming in fourth was "This is the End," an apocalyptic comedy starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, which brought in $13.3 million, according to industry tracker Exhibitor Relations.
Sleeper hit "Now You See Me," about an FBI agent and an Interpol detective who hunt down a team of illusionists performing bank heists during their shows, came in fifth with $7.9 million.
Action sequel "Fast & Furious 6," starring Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, added another $4.9 million, taking its outright haul to $228.6 million and putting it in sixth place.
In seventh was low-budget horror film "The Purge" -- which scored a surprisingly strong opening two weeks ago to top the box office -- with $3.6 million.
However, the $3 million Universal feature starring Ethan Hawke and "Game of Thrones" star Lena Headey has now earned a total of $59.6 million, with a sequel already in the works, according to industry reports.
The Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson comedy "The Internship," which sees the "Wedding Crashers" co-stars competing with tech wizards after scoring an internship at Google, fell to eighth place with $3.4 million.
Summer blockbusters "Star Trek: Into Darkness" and "Iron Man 3" rounded out the top ten, bringing in $3.2 million and $2.2 million, respectively. "Iron Man 3" has made more than $400 million since its release two months ago.
