Palestinian killed in Gaza tunnel collapse: medics
At least 10 people have been killed in recent cave-ins and accidents in the vast network of tunnels linking Egypt and Gaza that are used to smuggle food, goods and, according to Israel, weapons and explosives.
Almost 130 people have died in such accidents over the past three years, according to a recent report by the Palestinian Centre for Democracy and Conflict Resolution (PCDCR).
Israel and Egypt have kept the densely populated Gaza Strip sealed off to all but essential humanitarian goods since the Islamist Hamas movement seized power in the enclave from its secular Fatah rivals in 2007.
Israel heavily bombed the network of tunnels during its 22-day offensive against Hamas at the turn of the year, but many tunnels were quickly redug.
