Policeman injured in French terror attack dies

Paris - A policeman injured in a terror attack in southern France on Friday has died, Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said early Saturday.

The 45-year-old gendarmerie officer had volunteered himself as a hostage in exchange for civilians, Collomb said on Twitter.
France would never forget the officer's heroism, courage and sacrifice, Collomb added.
"He saved lives and did honour to his corps and his country," French President Emmanuel Macron had said earlier.
The fatality brings the attacks' death toll to four.
A petty drug dealer, apparently turned terrorist, killed three people in a series of attacks in southern France on Friday before police shot him dead after an hours-long siege.
Five other people were injured in the attacks, among them the police officer.
