Saudi Arabia lends Bosnia 25 million dollars: govt

SARAJEVO - Saudi Arabia signed a deal to help Bosnia to rebuild and equip hospitals through a 25-million-dollar (18-million-euro) loan, the government here said Monday.
The 25-year loan, with a two-percent interest rate and a five-year grace period, will be used to improve medical services at four hospitals in the capital Sarajevo and southern towns of Mostar and Konjic, a finance ministry spokeswoman said.

The deal was signed by Bosnia's Finance Minister Dragan Vrankic and Saudi representative Tousef Al-Bassam.
Following the devastating 1992-1995 war that pitted Bosnia's Croats, Muslims and Serbs against each other, the Saudi kingdom invested almost 40 million euros to develop the Balkan country.
