Washington (dpa) - US President Donald Trump tweeted he is withdrawing newly imposed sanctions targetting North Korea.
The tweet referred to "additional large scale Sanctions" announced by the Treasury Department on Thursday that would be added to those already existing against North Korea.
The sanctions were against two shipping companies based in China for attempting to evade North Korea sanctions.
The Treasury Department didn't respond to dpa's request for comment.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders, asked to clarify, said, "President Trump likes Chairman Kim and he doesn’t think these sanctions will be necessary."
