"We strongly support Israel's right to act in self-defence," the White House said in a statement, after the most serious exchange of fire in years between the two Middle Eastern rivals.
"The Iranian regime's deployment into Syria of offensive rocket and missile systems aimed at Israel is an unacceptable and highly dangerous development for the entire Middle East."
The statement placed "full responsibility" on Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for the "reckless actions."
