US stocks extend losses to seventh day

Washington (dpa) - US major averages opened down Friday, extending losses into a seventh day, putting stocks on track for their worst week since 2009.

The S&P 500 opened down nearly 2.5 per cent, with no sector posting gains, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average moved lower by about 2.5 per cent.
The 10-year Treasury yield again hit a record low, a further sign investors were seeking safety amid uncertainty and concerns of growing risk over the consequences of the spread of the new coronavirus.
