Teddy Afro, whose real name is Tewodros Kassahun, said he was ready for a musical comeback, but declined to answer questions about his time in prison and the charge against him.
Instead, he focused on his plans to sing in Ethiopia and then the Gulf, the United States and Europe.
He was found guilty of manslaughter after a hit-and-run accident in 2006 in which a homeless man was killed. In December 2008, Tewodros was sentenced to six years in jail, but the Supreme Court reduced the term to two years.
Teddy Afro was released on August 13.
He is considered close to the opposition and his album "Yasetseryal" sold more than a million copies, but the state broadcaster banned some songs in the wake of disputed 2005 elections.
Tewodros claims that at the time of the road accident for which he was jailed, he was not in the country.
