Judge issues arrest warrant for Lindsay Lohan

LOS ANGELES- A Los Angeles judge issued an arrest warrant for Lindsay Lohan here Thursday after the troubled actress failed to appear for a court hearing related to her 2007 drunk-driving case.
Lohan, 23, had been ordered to appear before Judge Marsha Revel to respond to allegations she has not completed a set number of alcohol education classes required under the terms of her probation.

But a lawyer for Lohan said the actress remained stranded at the Cannes Film Festival in the south of France after having her passport stolen.
Revel was unimpressed and ordered Lohan's arrest after she returns to the United States on Friday.
"She should have made sure she either didn't go to Cannes or made sure to be back two days earlier," the judge said at Beverly Hills Courthouse.
A bail amount of 100,000 dollars was set for Lohan. "If she doesn't bail out, she'll be in jail," Revel warned.
The judge ordered Lohan -- who has been photographed extensively this week enjoying the Cannes party circuit -- not to drink alcohol.
The starlet must also be fitted with an electronic bracelet that monitors alcohol intake and submit to random drug testing.
Lohan's attorney Shawn Chapman Holley told reporters his client had intended to attend Thursday's hearing before being stuck in Cannes.
"The fact is she intended to be here today, she had a ticket to be here, her passport was stolen, she's filled out a police report in Cannes and as far as I'm concerned, she had a valid reason for not being here," Holley said.
The celebrity attorney also defended Lohan's decision to attend Cannes but would not say whether the actress had traveled to France against her advice.
"She's got a life as an actress, she doesn't consult with me on what she needs to do in her business," Holley said.
Asked if she was aware Lohan had been photographed partying on a yacht in Cannes on Wednesday, Holley replied: "I wasn't aware of the fact that she was on a party on a yacht. That's what you do in Cannes when you're 23.
"Would I do it (at) my age now? No."
Holley said Lohan was in "substantial" compliance with the terms of her probation, noting the actress had attended 10 out of 13 alcohol education sessions.
But Judge Revel had already extended Lohan's probation by a year at a hearing in October to address claims the actress had failed to attend enough of the alcohol education classes.
Lohan was arrested for driving under the influence in May 2007. After a stay in rehab, she was caught two months later for drunk driving and cocaine possession. She served a mere 84 minutes in jail after the arrests,
She was also sentenced to 10 hours of community service.
The queen of Hollywood nights and a favorite target of the paparazzi, the former Disney child star was once considered one of the most promising actresses of her generation.
But her career has dipped many times since 2005 amid legal woes, stops in rehab and cinematic flops.
In 2008, the star of "The Parent Trap," "Mean Girls" and "Bobby" received two Razzie Awards, the satirical prizes presented to Hollywood's worst actors.
