Vienna Opera reinstates dancer fired over risque photos

VIENNA- The ballet company of the Vienna Opera on Wednesday reinstated a Russian dancer fired last week after the publication of risque photographs in an Austrian magazine, its management said.
"Based on her explanations and apologies, the management has decided to reinstate Karina Sarkisova into the ballet corps," the Vienna Opera said in a statement.

The opera's director said last week that he was "shocked" by the photos, which were published in late August.
"I was not aware of the negative consequences which would be caused by the publication of these photos, and I did not want to harm either the ballet corps or the Vienna Opera," Sarkisova said in a statement.
Sarkisova, who has been a member of the opera since 2000, had previously received a warning over another set of risque photos.
